Ibogaine treatments have gotten a bad rap because of two recent deaths-- one at a clinic in Tuluum and another at a retreat in Costa Rica. The risk of such deaths can be mitigated, or prevented, with medical protocols and experienced providers in place, as well as good pretreatment protocols, and the people who will be joining us for this discussion have developed these through direct experience-- doing treatments successfully for decades, and have developed ways to mitigate risk as well as make the treatment effective.
Ibogaine the Addiction-Interruptor
What is ibogaine? Ibogaine is a whitish powder that is contained inside the root bark of the Tabernathe iboga tree, found in Africa, as well as in a plant called Voacanga. Ibogaine has the amazing quality of physiologically interrupting addiction receptors to a “pre-addicted” state in a single treatment and eliminating withdrawals. Because iboga is a psychedelic aka entheogenic plant medicine, it is not available inside the US medical system. Over the years thousands of people have ended their addiction and redeemed their lives with the help of ibogaine or other plant medicines by traveling to Mexico or Canada or other parts of the world where it is legal or semi-legal. At Awake.net our 501c3 approved non-profit mission is to raise $100 million to fund 10,000 individual treatments using the medical tourism model, raise awareness about entheogenic plant medicines and their power to heal and awaken, build community, both online and local, and create a model for actually healing and redeeming an individual struggling with addiction.
It takes a village, as they say.
