Bard in Bardo: An Afternoon of Psychedelic Poetry
SUNDAY APRIL 7, 2-4 PM MTN
bard in bardo

I read somewhere that Zen monks celebrated having reached a certain stage of enlightenment when they were inspired to write ecstatic poetry or koans, a form of profound riddle. The Celts had a shamanic initiation for poets called three cauldrons which were levels of mastery that they aspired to. Each level had its accompanying state of consciousness or frequency, and form of poetry. Practitioners from ancient India and Persia wrote ecstatic hymns of praise to Soma or Haoma, thought to be Amanita Muscaria, for giving them the nectar of their poetic vision and the energy of their altered state.

Modern psychonauts have also been inspired to write shamanic poetry, and for this month’s integration circle we invite you to bring a poem to share or just show up to listen to poetry recitations written during or as a result of a psychedelic journey with psilocybin, ayahuasca or other substances.

Something very profound happens inside the consciousness of the poet. As you articulate in your own words a truth, insight, or transmission, the transformative message contained therein becomes imprinted in your psyche, and the poem itself is a time-capsule that carries the frequency of the journey for both poet and audience to tap into. Join us for a magical afternoon!

If you play a musical instrument and would like to accompany the recitation of one or more poems, we would love to have your participation.
