Ibogaine the Addiction-Interruptor

Ibogaine is a whitish powder that is contained inside the root bark of the Tabernathe iboga shrub, found in Central West Africa, as well as in a plant called Voacanga. Ibogaine has the amazing quality of physiologically interrupting addiction by restoring addiction receptors in the brain to a “pre-addicted” state in a single medically supervised treatment. Because iboga is an “oneorigen” aka entheogenic plant medicine, it is not available inside the US medical system. Over the years thousands of people have ended their addiction and redeemed their lives with the help of ibogaine or other plant medicines by traveling to Mexico or Canada or other parts of the world where it is legal or semi-legal. At Awake.net our non-profit goal is to raise $100 million to fund 10,000 individual treatments using the medical tourism model, raise awareness about entheogenic plant medicines and their power to heal and awaken, build community—both online and local—and offer a model for actually healing and redeeming an individual struggling with addiction.
