INTRODUCTION

Alan Romano, LCSW, is a licensed psychotherapist with advanced training in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy, trauma-informed care, and integrative healing modalities. He has spent more than a decade working with individuals navigating trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, and complex mental health conditions, while also supporting clients seeking personal growth and spiritual development.

Alan completed advanced psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy training in the Netherlands through the Experiential Training Institute (ETI), where he received clinical education in the therapeutic use of psilocybin while participating in a supervised psilocybin experience within a ceremonial group setting. He is also certified in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute (IPI) in Colorado and trained as a Kambo Practitioner through Medicine Frog Kambo in California.

Alan is the co-founder of Plantas Sagradas, a retreat center in Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico, offering thoughtfully curated ceremonial experiences with ibogaine and ayahuasca. Depending on each guest’s intentions and readiness, additional ceremonial offerings may include Kambo, Bufo, and Changa. Rather than serving these medicines independently, Alan collaborates with experienced local medicine practitioners who bring years of traditional knowledge and ceremonial experience. His role centers on preparation, psychological assessment, integration, and bridging evidence-informed psychotherapy with traditional healing practices. Plantas Sagradas emphasizes comprehensive medical and psychological screening, ethical practice, integration support, and deep respect for the cultural traditions from which these medicines originate.

Drawing from both clinical practice and extensive personal experience with traditional plant medicines, Alan integrates evidence-informed psychotherapy with careful preparation, harm reduction, and comprehensive integration. His work emphasizes safety, ethical practice, and the understanding that meaningful healing extends beyond the medicine experience itself, emerging through sustained psychological, relational, and lifestyle transformation.
